January is the month of revival, whispers all around of a better year - aspirations held for those resolutions you have either penned to paper, or kept quietly in your thoughts.
According to data published from various studies published throughout the last 5 years, every January, roughly 40% of Americans vow to change something in their lives, in the form of a resolution. One of the top 3 resolutions is to lose weight1.
A study published in 2002 by Scranton University1, shows statistics for the percentage of people who had made New Year's resolutions, as the resolve to keep those resolutions dwindles steadily over time:
According to data published from various studies published throughout the last 5 years, every January, roughly 40% of Americans vow to change something in their lives, in the form of a resolution. One of the top 3 resolutions is to lose weight1.
A study published in 2002 by Scranton University1, shows statistics for the percentage of people who had made New Year's resolutions, as the resolve to keep those resolutions dwindles steadily over time:
- Resolutions held past the first week: 75%
- Resolutions held past 2 weeks: 71%
- Resolutions held after one month: 64%
- Resolutions held after 6 months: 46%
The Study gathered data on the usefulness of resolutions made in January. To gather data, 2 groups of subjects were followed over a 6 month period and interviewed. The groups were made up of:
- People who had NOT sat down and made resolutions.
- People who DID make the effort to create resolutions.
The Study found that after 6 months time 46% of the people who HAD made resolutions were successfully accomplishing their resolution goals - compared to only 4% success rate of those who did NOT create resolutions .
This is good news for people who have reachable aspirations this year. For those of you who are seeking to shed extra pounds this year, it may be in your favor to write down a resolution or two. By keeping your resolutions in an accessible place, you create a reviewable bookmarklet of your goals. This will help improve your willingness to keep your word, as well as serve as a constant reminder of what you are working toward.
Once you have established your basic goals for weight loss, it is time to confront the barrage of seemingly frustrating obstacles, some are - portion control, peer pressure, advertising, self esteem, cravings and lack of motivation.
One of the biggest problems dieters face is curbing cravings for high calorie foods. The salty, crunchy and mostly grease laden mass produced items like chips, are readily available via retail shelves and can be found virtually everywhere - vending machines, break rooms and parties etc.
What can be done about cravings? Deprivation - The act of denying oneself access to these treats? Well studies also reveal that denying cravings only results in more weight gain, because most dieters succumb to the internal turmoil caused by the denial, and then start the binges. Binges are mainly eating large amounts of high calorie foods for an extended period, disregarding portion control or the caloric values. This can create an ugly cycle with dieters. It can be quite disheartening.
I think one effective method to ward off cravings is to find a similar food - one that is close to the texture, and taste of that high calorie, unneeded food you might crave. The key is to find the version that is the least in calories, yet still as tasty.
Thankfully flavor technologies are starting to catch up with the science of creating and marketing low calorie products. The bland, obviously doctored tastes of diet foods past seems to have dissolved, much like the once bad after tastes.
So keeping in tune with this post, I wanted to share that I discovered something recently, that was pretty nifty. Kellogg's brand 'Special K ' has started marketing low calorie snacks as part of their pro-low calorie product line. I think by far the multi-grain crackers they just released are one of the tastiest store bought crackers I have had in a while.

The closest retail comparison I could think of is "Wheat Thins". Now I have not been a fan of "Wheat Thins", the crackers are a bit too substantial for my taste. And they have an overpowering taste that competes with anything you add to them. Plus I find that I get this odd after taste when I have had a few at a time. But Special K's multi-grain crackers surprised me. They have a very light & airy texture with bits of whole grains - but can still hold their own when used with a thicker dip or soft cheese. The taste of the cracker comes off very pleasant, with a slight hint of onion. Very buttery.
I honestly can say they were extremely good. Something I will keep in my pantry.
There is a second variety of Special K's crackers I tasted. The flavor is Italian Tomatoes & Herb. Now if you are someone who loves the taste of tomato bisque or sun-dried tomatoes - you will appreciate this variety.I am not a fan of tomato bisque. I love marinara sauces and sun-dried tomato but something about that kind of soup just doesn't do it for me.
I did taste the crackers enough to get a sense of their flavor. The tomato flavor is pretty heavy in these crackers. IThe crackers actually reminded me of tomato soup with an aged cheese melted into it.
My husband (who happens to be an avid tomato bisque consumer) loved these crackers. As did my 20 month old. Plus they passed the "picky eater" test with my 5 yr old.
So if you are looking for something to curb your cravings, these crackers seem like a win-win. Per serving of 17 crackers it is only 90 calories. They come in individual portion controlled .77 oz pouches, or you can purchase a box of 6 pouches, and for larger amounts, the 8 oz carton is great for parties.

«Oldest ‹Older 1 – 200 of 287 Newer› Newest»I love Special K products, but haven’t heard of these. Thank you for the review. I’ll be on the watch for these :)
Hi Amber!
It's very common to begin the year and try to achieve your goals and one of them is lose weight! After the end of the year and all the festivities it's almost impossible to not gain some pounds..kgs..
I don't know if I've this special k low cal snack in my country, but worth to search them.
Cheers!
Gera
Great post! Thanks for reminding me to write down my resolutions too :)
I'll write down my resolutions now. Number 1 on the list: lose weight. I've been eating multi-grain loaf breads and biscuits but they're rather bland tasting. I'll check out these K crackers. They look delicious. Thanks!
Thanks for tips. But, I'd prefer more natural things. For example, just green apple...
Many people begin their new year with resolution. but few people stick to their resolution.
Thanks for the Special K's multi-grain and Italian Tomatoes & Herb review. I will try this one.
thanks for sharing, interesting read, i would say i come under the 46% :D
"The Study found that after 6 months time 46% of the people who HAD made resolutions were successfully accomplishing their resolution goals - compared to only 4% success rate of those who did NOT create resolutions ."
Interesting fact! I'll certainly do one next year, i think l missed my chance this year already
After two months I will loose my weight by 7lbs on my wii fit.
A cracker fan like me should try Special K's multi- grain.
I live every day like its a new year :)...daily goals are the only way to go.
Live life like it's your last. Thinking this way may get rid of those new year's resolution which for me is just a waste of paper, pen and of course internet time.
Good Post and witting style too. Bookmarked you for more great things.
Like everyone else, losing weight is a yearly resolution that I have especially that I am always in the kitchen cooking food for the family. The greatest obstacle for me would be "craving" - I just find it hard to control.
Uh, these are new! I haven't even seen them here in the shops, but I gotta try them when they become avaible! ;)
My wife loves Special K. I've got to tell her about these cereals!
I haven't heard of these, thanks for the info and review, I will look for them tomorrow at the grocery,
Thanks!

I'll bring home a bag of these crackers one of these days. My kids do love to nibble some goodies while watching TV and playing, and it seems healthy too.
Great advice. I really do like those Special K crackers ... pretty good taste and satisfies cravings.
I need to learn how to curb my cravings as well haha :) but mabey eating fruit, because i find wen i eat fruit it makes me not feel like eating anything anymore because fruit is so yucky i get put off :)

Every morning is new year for me:)...daily goals are the only way to go.
I used to have special K crackers before. But here in the philippines it's not offered anymore.. I wonder why. Wonderful food to eat indeed.
I don't believe in listing my goals I just believe in achieving them.
special k crackers is really a wonderful product for the weighted people who wish to overcome it.this blog explains it very nicely.
thanks
Really it very awesome article about K Product.I love K product and its yummy.......
I need to learn how to curb my cravings as well haha :) but mabey eating fruit, because i find wen i eat fruit it makes me not feel like eating anything anymore because fruit is so yucky i get put off :)
I for one never manage to keep my resolutions!! When it comes to losing weight, I'm just really lazy. This year however, has been a bit different - I'm doing ok. I try and eat special K every morning and I've been trying to eat a lot more fruit, with exercise thrown in.
Good luck everyone - keep going with the resolutions!
you gotta love special k - planning is the keyword!
Nice post guyz, if we dont have goals how can we survive: :)
I love kelloggs, it starts my day right. It's good that they have a new products, one that is worth trying.
Thanks for sharing!
My kids love cereals every morning. So as much as possible, I want to give them a variety that they can choose. This is a good news since there is something new that they can try.
Thanks for sharing
I'm one of those people who wrote a resolution and included a plan about losing weight(Talk about typical! lol). Anyway, it's already March and I'm still caught up in my diet and fitness plan. I think it's coming along nicely though, nothing drastic or anything... Right now, I eat a lot of oat fiber crackers. I'll try that special k crackers too, thanks for putting it up.
Thanks for sharing, interesting read, i made a similar resolution this year and i can proudly say i'm still sticking to them :D but it is hard though so i agree with David daily goals are definitely the way forward
I dont really need to lose weight, but to look smarter, i try my best to eat less carb .. i know i'm very bad at making shedules and very good at ruining them :)
thats why i ve left planning, i simply eat ethically ... lolz being ethical is stopping myself from eating too much whenever i feel i do ...
The part about choosing foods closer to the high calorie foods is really inspiring. I know that soyabean milk is a good replacement for cow milk itself and could contribute towards making the cravings smaller. There are similarly plenty of foods which can come pretty close to the crave-foods
Cravings galore. Resolution will always be a resolution to some...nothing to change at all...its just a matter of "show" purposes. Hows this one? It takes discipline to fulfill promises. But I know there were some who were serious enough to follow their goals.
Interesting facts. If giving up a certain food is really hard, one can try cutting down on portion size. Dieting is all about gradual changes to healthy way of eating.
I believe that those 'cravings pangs' attack when you're depriving yourself. I've been fighting off obesity for several years now and I've experienced food binge many times. Since there are many healthy snacks available nowadays, I have no more reason to deprive myself of those delicious crunchy stuff. For me, canned fruits in very light syrup are the best snacks!
Amber. Thanks for that info! I also, have made diet resolutions only to fail! Is March to late to write down that plan :)? I stumbled upon the special K crackers the other day and I am impressed. For me they can take the place of chips. Fruit? Yuck, I still believe Eve was tempted by a `candy' apple ...... :)
Yes, people are making firm resolutions to begin their years in a fresh perspective. Even I had one, that of exercising regularly atleast half an hour.
I didn't do my resolutions this year because I never can keep them but I'd like to lose some weight this year and I love the Special k products so I will start buying some of them.
For the 1st time ever, just after the New Year, I wrote a list of about 30 or so goals that at the time seemed insurmountable and really tough to find the time to do. I diarised the actions and then I found on the day I was a lot more prepared to do them.
As a result my years worth of goals are nearly complete in the first quarter! Love it!
it's good. but i think it all depends on your metabolism...
I love Special K products, but haven’t heard of these. Thank you for the review. I’ll be on the watch for these
I have never been one to make firm resolutions...they are more vague wants for the future. I know this is the wrong way to go about it but, your article and the comments above got me thinking...I am making new ones that are firm. Wish me luck.
I love the kellogs all brain, it is healthy, taste good, and I its the first thing I want to put in my mount when I wake up in the morning:)
Thank you for reviewing this, makes me want give this a shot, when it comes to my country:)
healthy foods.thanks for post
thanks for sharing this tips
great overview
Hi,
I find this blog today trough http://www.followlist.com.It looks like paid blog. Great
Thanks for tips that seem easy to do.
Special K is definitely one of the Top 5 healthiest cereals out there. Good find.
wow! i love kelloggs ever since! that's a nice review!
You always need to reward yourself, no matter which diet you follow, at least once or twice a week.
Combining good health and good taste is a wise choice, good post!
I love the special K products, they are delicious and it's a great way to keep your figure.
46% is a lot larger than I had imagined. There are actually this many people who see their resolutions though? I guess I'm not one of them.
Great site by the way - very informative.
hello... hapi blogging... have a nice day! just visiting here....
There are many products with a small amount of calories. I stopped paying attention when I buy food and I got 12 kg. I did not know that Crackers have so few calories. Thanks for the information.
this is one healthy treat. i lovei t
Wow!! ^ ^
Thank!
Happy Food At Home (Thai)
I love K.Products thanks for posting buddy
I am very caring for my health and i prefer dry foods and fruits...
Really awesome blog. I enjoyed reading this review from you. I found that you really update your site regularly that made me more interesting. I've bookmarked your site for my future use.
Thank you

That gave me inspiration to make a Special K snack bar. We make one that is like a Rice Krispy bar but we use huge puffed and toasted rice. We could have 2 varieties... the "good bar" with lo fat and the "bad bar" with butter and marshmallows. YUM.
I love eating crackers because of the delicious noises they make inside my mouth. I like the multi-grain variety but with not much salt. Mmm... Crunchy!
I can't get enough of multi-grain, but do i see tomato and herb.. in crackers? I've always liked Special K cereal though, so I guess it can't be all that bad. Its good to hear about the 46%, you would think it would be the other way around.
Although I prefer natural things but still I love K products. just bookmarked this page. Thanks for the tips
My new years resolution lasted about 5 minutes.
Its 11:30PM and Im starving! But I don't wanna eat cause its really close to bed time and I just went to the gym so I feel really good about myself .. =) what are the best ways you find help you make it passed little temptations like these?
I'm still on my New years resolution until now. Thanks to Kellogs multigrain crackers, I can enjoy crackers without the guilt! I'm loving Kellogs Special K. Keeps me on track with my diet.
It is not only healthy, it is really tasty as well!
I thinks its important to eat little and often. So many people try gung-ho starvation type diets that effectively lead to bingeing.
Eat healthy nutrient rich foods, exercise and maybe even have a treat once a week.
Thank you for reviewing this, makes me want give this a shot, when it comes to my country:)
Haha my girl loves the special K, she also likes everything else too though!
She is a vegan chef and has a blog at myveganplanet dot com, if you are interested in writing a post on this with a link back to your site hit me up, we are looking for some guest food bloggers!
you can add some more stories they prove to be beneficial and entertaining same time.Great attempt!!! Very nice blog providing good entertainment stuff as well as various facilities.
Great post. Well written. I love the information and I love kellogs!
I'd love to have a taste of these K-crackers. They sure look healthy and satisfying snacks. Thanks for the info.
hey i can't stop my cravings at all! embrace them I say - LOL! Wait till my metabolism slows down though, and then we'll see.... :P
I'm happy to say I've kept my resolutions so far! :)
Thanks for this wonderful article. I also made same resolution in 2007 and lost 15 kgs.....so I am in which category. I also like Kellogs a lot. Now i'll like to try this Special K coz I still want to loose 5 or 6 kgs........
It's good to hear that nowadays there are more and more products that are low calorie but are still tasty are available in the market...I haven't tried Special K, yet but after reading your post now I'm interested in trying it out.
thanks for reviewing this
i use kellogs in breakfast though, keeps my mind fresh and working all day long..
Oh, I'm not very good about writing my resolutions down. Next year. . .
Those crackers sound heavenly, I'll have to give them a try.
Americans should definitely to make delicious products but with a small amount of calories. My husband and I love tomato soup, too because it is very tasty and healthy food.
Putting your goals in writing, whether they be a new year's resolution or any other time really does something for you. It's almost like a contract with yourself and creates a much more powerful projection on your mind. Really powerful stuff I recommend anyone use. Also, yup, eating a similar product to the one you crave is a great tactic to use, I can vouch for that as I often crave "junk" hehe!
The informations are so lovely and so usefull so thank you very much. Be sure i will use all of them keeping in my mind.Have a goog luck.
I really enjoyed reading your post, very interesting and informative. I love Special K's multi-grain crackers. It's very tasty. Thanks for sharing this info. Looking to read more posts from you soon.
Health is wealth, that is my motto in life. So, im starting to reduce my weight.
Thanks for the info, i will be back here again and read articles like this.
Goodluck
Great work with this one, nicely done! I believe that those 'cravings pangs' attack when you're depriving yourself. I've been fighting off obesity for several years now and I've experienced food binge many times.

Great review on K products, I will have a look at it althought I am more interested in natural food.
I have learned something from this post. So I better stop denying now or else ugh I don't wanna be fat! The idea of that Special K's is very much tempting. It looks good and delicious!
One trick I learned to lose weight is to eat EXTREMELY sloooooooooooooooooooooooooooowwwwwwww.
Most overweight people have a tendency to eat very quickly. While skinny people take their time. The trick I learned is to get a little count down timer, set it for 12 minutes, and slowly savior my meal.
This can be pure torture at first but if you manage to do this with every meal then you're guaranteed to lose weight.
I use Special K cerial and have lost 10Lb in last 5 monts I love it.
great blog
Great blog, keep posting please it is very informative. I definitely need to curb my cravings
i wonder how ever i have not tired anthing whit tomatos kellogs :)
Its a bit hard to read about Kelloggs as sort of protectors of healthy life style. But never mind - better they promote something mass producted and cereal then just the usualsomething made from sugar. well - just my five cents as german girl watching developement of food in US...
Very interesting.. Nice post. I have often thought about some of the points you bring up. The way you expressed it
really makes a lot of sense.
well I think I am one of those who never change resolutions... Every year I try to change something new... my car... my laptop, quit smoking! drinking less, more holiday, more domestic travels but I never do that...
i have special K in the morning and at lunch and the weight drops off
For me I always keep myself busy to ward-off cravings
very informative and useful post thanks
Great review. I'll definitely try these products sometime. Thanks for sharing.
I have been taking this cereal from 1 month & i have lost 5 lbs so far. It is a really good breakfast with full nutrition . Recommended cereal.

Nice content and witting style too. Thank you for the review
pretty intersting stats.. i always thought that people typically fail at staying with their new years resolution but the 46% success rate is quite impressive...
thanks for the hint! lets see if I can find those Special K in Russia...
I keep on reading how healthy "Special K cereal is, but I just can't eat it. I have tried a few times and it is just too boring. I have put blueberries and bananas in it, which has helped. These crackers seem different though, I will have to give them a try.
I totally agree with you! Thanks for the advices and tips!
this blog is not my cup of tea but I liked it very much. thnx for sharing such nice article.
Well said about the new year resolution, tips like this will definitely help to keep up the resolution for a long run.
There is often a misconception between weight loss and healthy diet. Perfect diet program with proper nutrition will not only keep you fit but young too. Good luck

"The Study found that after 6 months time 46% of the people who HAD made resolutions were successfully accomplishing their resolution goals - compared to only 4% success rate of those who did NOT create resolutions"...I liked this 1 bro...also it was a great review about 'K products'...seems its yummy and healthy at a time!
I eat lots of sweet products. One time I used artificial sweetener, and so I lost about seven kilos in two months. Later I heard that it is very harmful and causes cancer.
January isn't only to make resolution, but make good resolutions and try your best to achive that target within year end.........
Your information about cravings REALLY hit home. I can go for days/weeks with denying myself one particular decandent pleasure... Chocolate.
Then I break down and eat an entite bag of minatures. Then, back to the deprivation. Almost and endless cycle. I have found that by allowing myself smal portions every couple of days, I was able to hold off the binge until my body didn't crave it anymore.
I am also one amongst those people who make tall resolutions at the start of the year and let it fade away as the year goes on and once again the same story unfolds. I am awake once again to try once again but this time with the aid of your recommendations and replacement yummies to lessen my tummy.
I don't have a weight problem, but this post reminded me of my childhood, when I liked very much the sugar frosting K cereals. I ll try the crackers - they can be a healthy snack.
Enjoy eating!
Great post! Thanks to Kellogs multigrain crackers, I can enjoy crackers without the guilt! I love your opinion.

Setting you resolution and eagerness to achienve that it will brought to success...love the special K cereals.. :D
drinks are cereals now (milo, ovaltine) and cereals are biscuits. what's going on ?
I've always been terrible with new year's resolutions, but two friends of mine decided to go vegan for 6 months. I didn't want to ask, but I would say each of them lost almost 40lbs. Their 6 months is up now and they are back to eating a vegetarian diet, but it was a very impressive effort and I'm sure it was a very healthy decision for them.
Great post. Thanks for reminding ME TO WRITE down myresolutionstoo )
This is perfect for a healthy lifestyle....everyone should start consuming this!
We should be fit and healthy. Your tips will be useful to me.
They sound delicious, but it'll be hard to stray from my wheatables :)

I love special K all bran..I keeps my stomach on track everyday, and the fiber is just enough to get a good start of the day:)
Very correct approach to weight reduction. Really, not to eat too much, the meal should be tasty and easy. It will be necessary to try these crackers.
I really appreciate your effort for letting me know about this. Thank you so much!
Hadnt heard of the Special K products, Ill have to keep an eye out.
I am terrible at keeping resolutions. In fact, I hate them. Now I just call them "small attainable goals" to make myself feel better. ;)

Hi, Thanks for this informative post..however I would prefer something natural like fruits so that I do not compromise on my vitamins and minerals intake!
K products have really good product and this post has the same review regarding the k product. Good post!
this is a stunning blog :-) keep it up.
My coworker eats that special k stuff every day as a snack in the morning. I don't think it's working. Not trying to be mean, but i just don't see any changes
What a helpful post, I am going to give a 2nd look at special k products the next time I'm at the market. Thanks!
Thanks for interesting article.
Ah, new-year's resolutions are my nemesis. i ended up just not making any resolution at all, because if i do i then feel pressured and stressed to accomplish them. so i just try to eat and live as healthy as i can.
I am a big resolution breaker. I always take resolution that i will not eat oily and junk food in the coming year but every time i loss control over me and starts eating it but i happy that i am not alone in this category.
is the result of using k cerial is fixed? not a "yoyo" effect?
good blog
Special K Cereal is a great addition to any diet!
I love the new Special K with Blueberries. They are my new favorite.
I like the Special K cereal bars. Great for on the run!
Before I saw this, I had no idea that Special K had low-calorie crackers, which is so fantastic since I love their low-calorie cereal bars. These are really helpful to stick to small portions and still feel satisfied if you are trying to cut back on your diet.
Спасибо за интересный материал
I don't know if I've this special k low cal snack in Brasil, i love Special K products, but haven’t heard of these. Thanks for sharing.
I need to learn how to curb my cravings as well haha :) but mabey eating fruit, because i find wen i eat fruit it makes me not feel like eating anything anymore because fruit is so yucky i get put off :)
Funny. I just made a mid-year resolution to read one wikipedia page every day.
Eating lots of protein rich meals will prevent cravings. Crude vegetables help a lot too.
The question is how can we curb our cravings when an excellent blog like this keep on posting super appetizing and craving dishes!
I think it comes down to making lifestyle changes that are going to be usable for the long term. Such as a glass of wine a night, instead of two of three. Thanks for the blog, I will definitely come back for more, it's hard to find weight loss routines that work over the long term!
nice template..great article buddy, thanks..
Next time you make a resolution, create a "cheat jar". EVERYTIME you "cheat" on your resolution it costs you a buck, or $5 or $10, depending on the resolution. After a while it'll be pretty obvious how resolute you really are! Oh, by the way...someone else controls the jar...and proceeds go to charity!!! Wayne
great blog! i really enjoyed reading your post.. keep it up!
I recently came across your blog and i have been reading alone. I thought I would my leave comments for this post but I’m getting confused about what to write exactly that I have enjoyed reading. Simply nice blog awesome.. I will keep connect this blog very often …Thanx
These products are good and better if you combine them with other health related foods. Thanks for posting your comments about cravings. :)
It seems really hard on keeping dieting resolution as you are exposed on daily bais the temptations, and its tough to resist them. I think the key lies in understanding the nutritional value of the food we are eating and moreover allowing oneself a day off from dieting once in a week but only to compensate with an extra hour of workout next day. It works really well but the products which you have mentioned in the post are really good and i think i am going to try them.
The post is great and I truly understand the craving part to a diet. Eating something similar to what your used to eating makes so much sense. I used to eat regular fig newtons and now i eat the diet brand. I used to drink coke and now i drink diet pepsi. I lost 10 pounds in 2 months just in making these small shifts in my eating.
I've lost around 28 pounds in the last four months by just changing my cereal choice to Special K, it tastes great, and I don't have the remorse when I'm done eating it! This is a GREAT blog. Thanks, I'll be reading more of your posts, later.
Resolutions are so hard to keep. I break half my resolutions within the first 4 months.
Great tips.
